Coaching & managing with the Enneagram
Lead a Enneagram trajectory and gain more in-depth knowledge of the paradoxes, safety and insecurity of each Type.
How to design a coaching trajectory?
The Enneagram is a personality model that describes nine different personality types, each with unique traits, motivations and behavioural patterns. It can be a valuable tool because it offers insight into personality, underlying motivations, defence mechanisms and so much more.
The report and insights alone does not spur learning, action, exploration. A huge asset is to be coached with the report.
The report brings speed and depth. A coaching trajectory with the report brings together the insights of the coachee on the one hand and his/her desires/goals/personal transition on the other. In this training, we support you as coach and/or leader in this.
Do you want to know…
- what each Type needs in order to feel safe to open up?
- what each Type needs to go through their own fear and judgement?
Do you want to know how to…
- build a trajectory with your customer or employee?
- keep the Enneagram awake after the first debrief or training?
- look at the recurring patterns and ways you can use them?
Then you are more than welcome to this training. We build on your basic Enneagram knowledge and give you a more in-depth insight into the dynamics and patterns. Learn how to build a trajectory and keep the typology awake in order to evolve towards sustainable change and growth.
- Where they are in the context of change readiness/willingness to change
- What they can commit to from their main Type
- What patterns, defence mechanisms are at play in the context of their goals
- What factors enable evolution, where they can find growth

Here are some ways you can use the Enneagram in coaching
Identify the Enneagram Type: Start by determining with the coachee their Enneagram Type. This can be achieved through questionnaires, self-reflection and in-depth conversations. Understanding the coachee’s dominant Enneagram Type helps both the coach and the coachee create awareness of the specific patterns, pitfalls and opportunities for growth associated with that Type.
Increase self-awareness: Help the coachee gain deeper insight into their personality dynamics and behavioural patterns stemming from their Enneagram Type. This can be achieved through targeted questions, reflective exercises and examining specific situations in which the coachee’s behaviour played a role. The aim is to raise awareness and bring unconscious reactions and motivations to the surface.
Identify opportunities for growth: The Enneagram offers insight into the strengths and challenges of each Type. Use this insight to work with the coachee to identify the specific growth opportunities they want to explore. Help them recognise their limiting beliefs and behavioural patterns and support them in developing new skills and strategies to bring about positive change.
Understand interactions and relationships: The Enneagram can also be useful in understanding the dynamics in relationships and interactions with others. Help the coachee to become aware of how their personality type affects their relationships, both at work and in their personal life. This can help them develop more effective communication, understanding and cooperation with others.
Support growth and development: As a coach, you can support the coachee to develop skills and behaviours appropriate to their personality type. Encourage them to explore new perspectives and approaches, and help them identify concrete actions they can take to achieve their goals. Offer support, guidance and regular assessment to foster their growth and development.
Specifically, then, we teach you how to use and question the Enneagram at each coaching stage. As a coach, how do you go to the deeper level of belief, emotion thanks to the Enneagram? How do you keep the Enneagram as a guide through time? How do you link the Enneagram to your different stages of life?
